Lionel Messi has made it clear that he wants to be part of Argentina's title defense at the 2026 World Cup. In an interview with ESPN, the 38-year-old said: "I hope to be there. I've said before that I'd really like to participate. In the worst case, I'll watch it live from the stands — but either way, it will be something special."
Messi also revealed that he has already spoken with coach Lionel Scaloni, who told him he would be welcome "in whatever role." The door is open. Whether Messi will walk through it — that's the question the entire world is waiting to have answered.
